So yes, South Africa might be the most amazing country in the world to us. And one of the places that made us feel that way is thanks to Denis, Gail and the staff at Needles Lodge. Prior to our arrival to Needles, we had several of issues which delayed our flight and the first night of our stay in Needles. However, thanks to having Wi-Fi en route from Frankfurt to Johannesburg, we were able to communicate our delay to Denis and he was super accommodating and ensuring we do all the activities we scheduled upon our arrival.
Since our flight into JoBerg arrived later into the evening we had to stay in the area overnight and catch a flight early the next morning. We were scheduled for a 7 a.m. arrival at Nelspruit airport and Denis picked us up bright and early. We chatted during the drive and he made sure we didn’t lose out on our safari that we booked. As we arrived, we dropped our bags off and Denis’ staff made us a lovely packed breakfast to take with us during our safari.
The hospitality, the room, and meals were top notch during our visit to Needles Lodge. We enjoyed sharing stories about what we saw and experienced with the rest of the group of guests who stayed at the Lodge during our stay. We were provided a hearty breakfast and a 3-4 course dinner daily. The grounds had tons of wildlife at random times too – we came across countless wild birds, wildebeests, kudus, zebras, warthogs, bushbabies, and giraffes. One thing to note is that the wi-fi was extremely weak – so if you were looking to get some work done during your holiday – don’t bother. Remember, you are staying in the middle of an African bush so to even have little access is great!
We can go on and on about how wonderful Needles was. It was really one of the favorite parts of our trip. We sadly only saw 4 of the 5 big five (elephants, buffalos, rhinoceroses, and lions) during our safaris…but we think the elusive leopard will make us come back for a future trip that will definitely be at Needles Lodge.
Thank you Denis, Gail and staff for the memories and hospitality!

Side note: Thanks to our review, we were told that a group of travelers booked Needles! They decided to take the scenic route and drove from Johannesburg International Airport to Marloth Park which is about an 8-hour drive.
