Snowboarding in Stubaier Gletscher (Stubai Glacier) | Innsbruck, Austria

Almost a year ago today we snowboarded in the Austrian Alps at Stubaier Gletscher. The glacier was about a 90 minute drive on the bus from Innsbruck.  For this trip, we decided to not bring our personal gear since we were road-tripping it through Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

If you are planning to ride just for a day we found that the Super Ski Package was the best deal.

The package for EUR 69.40 includes:

  • Bus transfer from Innsbruck to Stubai
  • One-day ski lift ticket
  • Rentals (Boots, board, and bindings)
    • Tickets can be purchased at the Innsbruck Information desk at the Marktgraben.

As for the slopes, the snow was AMAZING! It gets cold up top – it was -15C and very windy so be prepared for that. The wide open piste’s are great for carving. However, look at the trail maps first before you head down. Make sure you don’t end up going down the path where the lift that takes you back up is a T-Bar lift. Those are really made for the skiers. It’s not easy to get on if your are accustomed to chairlifts. (Go on youtube and check out the T-bar lift fail and you will see what we are talking about).
